Butterfly Mesh 160 GSM — 165 cm
A fine jersey ground broken by small arrow-shaped eyelets, set in a repeat that reads as a butterfly motif from a metre away and as clean dots up close. 160 GSM on a 165 cm width, knitted from 75D yarn. It is the quality we quote when a buyer wants airflow and visible texture without dropping to a thin, floppy mesh: at 160 GSM the cloth still has enough body to cut and sew like an ordinary jersey, so a jersey pattern does not have to be redrafted for it.
Almost everything this fabric is used for is sportswear — team jerseys, training tops, shorts, panels down the back of a singlet. The eyelets do the work: they move air and they break up a large area of flat colour, which is why a plain white or a club colour looks finished without a print. Set against a contrast panel or a lining, the same eyelets read as texture rather than as a hole.

|---|---|
| Knitting technics | Knitted (circular knit; fine jersey ground with an arrow eyelet in repeat) |
| Composition | 100% polyester |
| Stretch | None — this quality carries no elastane. It is a stable jersey rather than a stretch cloth: if your pattern relies on recovery at a cuff, a knee or a waistband, tell us and we quote the same eyelet with spandex in it instead of selling you this one for that job |
| Weight | 160 GSM / 4.7 oz/yd² |
| Width | 165 cm / 65 inch, open width |
| Yarn count | 75D |

The eyelet, not a plain mesh
Most sportswear mesh on the market is a hexagonal or diamond net: one uniform hole, one uniform look, and a cloth that reads as technical only from close up. This one is built the other way round — a solid jersey ground carries the weight and the printing surface, and the eyelets are placed in a motif. That is what gives it a printed, almost lace-like face in white, and it is also why it takes a screen or a sublimation print without the artwork falling into the holes.

96 colours, dyed on this base cloth
All 96 stock shades are dyed on this 160 GSM / 75D base, so the card you pick from is the cloth you receive — not a shade matched on a heavier article. Shade No.003 in the photographs is the white we hold in production; the pale and mid tones are the ones that move fastest in teamwear. MOQ is 300 kg per shade.

If the shade you need is not on the card, we dye to your Pantone or to a physical swatch. Send the reference and we come back with a lab dip on this base cloth before any bulk is dyed.
Where it goes
Basketball and team jerseys, training and warm-up tops, shorts and skorts, panels and back yokes on singlets, and lightweight linings inside unlined jackets. It is also used for casual sets and tops where the buyer wants the sports look without a performance price.

Three things worth saying plainly. Butterfly mesh describes the eyelet motif, not a fibre or a standard — if a supplier quotes you “butterfly mesh” at a different weight, the eyelet may look the same and the cloth will not. And because the eyelets are open, pale shades are semi-sheer in strong light: for a white jersey we usually see a lining or a second layer behind the front panel, and we will tell you honestly if the shade you picked needs one. It is also 100% polyester with no elastane: the cloth keeps the shape it was cut in and does not fight a seam or a press, but it will not stretch to fit — cut it to the block rather than under it.
