Tencel Lyocell Blend Jersey 175 GSM, 168 cm
A tri-blend single jersey in 48% cotton, 48% Tencel (lyocell) and 4% spandex, 175 GSM on a 168 cm width. Tencel is the branded lyocell fibre — a beech-pulp cellulosic that is smoother, more colourfast and more pill-resistant than standard rayon — and it is the quiet premium here: it gives the cloth its fluid, luxe hand. Cotton adds breathability and a natural touch; the 4% spandex gives the gentle recovery a jersey needs. It is the soft, easy-care end of the jersey range — a premium tee, a dress, a lightweight knit.

| Customization | Available — shade, weight and width confirmed at quotation. The blend dyes evenly across the three fibres, so a made-to-match is straightforward. |
|---|---|
| Knitting technics | A single jersey knit. Smooth and light on the face, loop structure on the back, the natural give of a tee. The three fibres are spun together, so the hand is a blend of all three rather than one dominating. |
| Composition | 48% cotton, 48% Tencel (lyocell), 4% spandex. Tencel — Lenzing’s branded lyocell — is the premium: smoother than standard rayon, more colourfast and more pill-resistant. Cotton adds breathability and a natural touch; the 4% spandex gives a little recovery. |
| Yarn | Cotton, Tencel and a bare spandex laid in at the needle; counts are set at order. |

| Weight | 175 GSM / 5.2 oz/yd². A substantial jersey — a finished top on its own, a lightweight dress, a premium tee. |
| Width | 168 cm / 66 inch. A wide jersey width; the knit registers across it. |
| Colour | Stock shades quoted by number (No.001–No.096), or dyed to match a swatch you supply. The quality is shown in a deep shade; send the shade and we match it, not the chip. |
| Hand | Smooth and fluid from the Tencel and the cotton, with the soft natural note of a cellulosic; the Tencel is what makes it feel a grade above a plain cotton jersey. |
| Stretch & recovery | The knit’s own recovery — opens roughly 30–40% across the width and comes back to near-flat. The 4% spandex and the Tencel share the load. No power stretch. |
| Shrinkage | 3–5% length and 2–3% width on the first wash (the cellulosic share), controlled by heat setting / pre-shrink at finishing. |
| Pilling | Grade 4. The Tencel share is the reason — lyocell pills far less than standard rayon, so this cloth surfaces clean where a plain rayon jersey would fuzz. |
| Fastness | Good wash and light fastness; the Tencel holds colour better than standard rayon, so the shade stays truer through washing. |
| Making up | A ball-point or jersey needle, a light tension; a straight stitch is fine, no stretch to fight. |
| Cutting | Lays and cuts like any jersey; a sharp blade, mark the grain off the wales. |
| Pressing | Medium, through a cloth; the Tencel and cotton take steam, do not over-press or you flatten the hand. |
| Abrasion | Good for a jersey; the Tencel surface wears clean and resists fuzzing. |
| Origin | Shaoxing City, Zhejiang, China |
| MOQ | 300 kg per shade. |
| Price | US$ 28.66 / kg (300–999 kg) · US$ 26.41 / kg (1,000 kg+) |
| Yield | ≈ 3.4 running metres per kg at 175 GSM × 168 cm (≈ US$ 8.43 per running metre, ≈ US$ 5.02 per m²). At the 1,000 kg+ price that is ≈ US$ 7.76 per running metre, ≈ US$ 4.62 per m². |
| Lead time | Stock shades ship from the lot on hand; dyeing to match adds 7–10 days for the lab dip and your approval, plus bulk. |
| Packing | Roll-packed, about 20 kg per roll, poly bag inside a woven sack. |
| Sample | Hanger swatch and shade card free; a lab dip against your own cloth charged at cost and credited against the bulk order. |
| Documents | Invoice, packing list, B/L, certificate of origin; test reports on request. |
| Care | Machine wash cool (30°C), mild detergent, line dry or tumble low. The cellulosic share means a little shrink on first wash — pre-shrunk at finishing where the programme needs it. |
Tencel is the point
The headline fibre here is the Tencel — Lenzing’s branded lyocell, a beech-pulp cellulosic that is smoother than standard rayon, holds its colour better through washing, and pills far less. That is what lifts this jersey a grade above a plain cotton or rayon cloth: it feels luxe, stays smooth, and keeps its shade. A buyer paying for “Tencel” is paying for exactly that.
We are honest about what it is not: it is a tri-blend, not pure Tencel, so the price stays sensible and the cloth keeps the breathability of cotton and the fluidity of lyocell. The Tencel is the quality marker, the cotton and spandex keep it wearable and affordable.

The three fibres do different jobs
Forty-eight percent cotton gives the breathability and the natural touch; 48% Tencel gives the smoothness, the colourfastness and the pill resistance; 4% spandex gives the recovery so a neckline opens and settles instead of permanently stretching. None dominates, which is why the hand reads as a blend rather than one fibre wearing the others.
The honest limit is the cellulosic one — cotton and Tencel together mean a little first-wash shrink and a little surface care, which we manage at finishing. For a premium top or a lightweight dress it is exactly the right cloth; for a high-abrasion workwear panel it is the wrong call, and we will say so.

175 GSM is a substantial jersey
One hundred and seventy-five GSM is heavier than a fashion tee and lighter than a sweatshirt — it is the band where a jersey can be a finished top on its own, not a layer. With the Tencel hand it reads as a premium casual or dress cloth rather than a basic.
And the 168 cm width is generous, so the marker lays efficiently. Spec it for premium tops, lightweight dresses and fashion knitwear where the Tencel story is worth telling.
Three things that go wrong on a Tencel blend. Blend: it is a tri-blend, not pure Tencel — the Tencel is the quality marker, the cotton and spandex keep it wearable and affordable. Shrink: a little first-wash shrink on the cellulosic share — pre-shrunk where the fit is precise. Shade: match the shade to your trim, not to a chip.
