Double-Sided Fleece 280 GSM, 180 cm

A double-sided brushed fleece in 95% polyester and 5% spandex, 280 GSM on a 180 cm width. Both faces are raised and brushed into a soft pile, so there is no wrong side — the cloth needs no lining and reads as plush from either direction. It is a hoodie cloth, a jacket cloth, a blanket cloth, a cosy outer layer.

CustomizationAvailable — shade, weight and width confirmed at quotation. The pile is piece-dyed, so a made-to-match is a standard poly dye.
Knitting technicsA double-sided brushed fleece. The cloth is a weft knit; after knitting both faces are raised and brushed into a soft pile, so there is no smooth back and no wrong side. The 5% spandex is laid in at the needle and gives the cloth a little recovery so fitted edges relax back.
Composition95% polyester, 5% spandex. Polyester is what makes the pile cheap, colourfast and easy-care; the 5% spandex gives the recovery a fitted edge wants.
YarnPolyester with a bare spandex laid in; counts are set at order.

Weight280 GSM / 8.3 oz/yd². A heavy warm weight — the substantial end of the fleece range, a finished cosy cloth on its own.
Width180 cm / 71 inch. A wide fleece width, so the marker lays efficiently.
ColourStock shades quoted by number (No.001–No.096), or dyed to match a swatch you supply. The quality is shown in a rust brown; send the shade and we match it, not the chip.
HandSoft and warm on both faces from the brushed pile; the 5% spandex keeps the edge from bagging. A plush, slightly springy hand throughout.
Stretch & recoveryOpens roughly 30–40% across the width from the knit and the 5% spandex; recovery is light-to-moderate. Fine for easy fits, not a compressive hold.
ShrinkageUnder 3% — both fibres are heat-set synthetics.
PillingGrade 3–4. A brushed pile will surface-fuzz under hard abrasion; overlock the edges.
FastnessExcellent wash and light fastness.
Making upA ball-point or jersey needle, a slightly longer stitch so the pile does not trap; overlock the edges — a cut fleece edge will shed pills if left raw. Because both faces are plush, you can leave seams unlined and they still read finished.
CuttingLays and cuts like any fleece; a sharp blade, mark the grain off the wales. With no wrong side, layout is simpler — just watch the pile direction for an even sheen.
PressingDo not press the pile — steam it from the back or hang it. A hot shoe on either face flattens the plush and kills the hand.
AbrasionModerate; the pile is the wear surface and it surface-fuzzes before it holes. Fine for hoodies, jackets and blankets.

Both sides are brushed

The defining thing about a double-sided fleece is that both faces are raised and brushed into a soft pile. There is no smooth back and no wrong side, which is why this cloth needs no lining — a hoodie, a jacket or a blanket can be finished with the seams showing and still read as plush on every surface.

That also makes it the heaviest, warmest option in the fleece range: 280 GSM of double pile traps more air than a single-sided cloth of the same weight would. For a cosy outer layer it is the efficient choice — you get the warmth without adding a separate lining layer.

280 GSM is a heavy warm weight

Two hundred and eighty GSM is the substantial end of the fleece range — heavier than the single-sided 300 only in feel because the pile is on both faces. It is a finished cosy cloth on its own: a hoodie body, a jacket body, a blanket, a warm lining.

Spec it where you want maximum warmth without a lining step. For a lighter layer, the single-sided fleece does the job at less weight and cost; for a chunkier, wider cloth, the bulky warm fleece is the move.

95/5 polyester and spandex

Ninety-five percent polyester with 5% spandex is the same value equation as the rest of the fleece range: polyester keeps it cheap, colourfast and easy-care, and the 5% spandex gives fitted edges a little recovery so a cuff or a waistband relaxes back instead of bagging.

The honest limit is the fleece one: a brushed pile surface-fuzzes under hard abrasion and it does not love a hot iron on the face. Both are manageable — overlock the edges, steam from the back — and for the warmth-per-dollar it is the right cloth.

Three things that go wrong on a double-sided fleece. Pile: with no wrong side, watch the pile direction for an even sheen, and overlock the cut edges. Pressing: steam from the back, never a hot shoe on either face. Shade: match the rust brown to your trim, not to a chip.
