Bulky Warm Fleece 256 GSM, 185 cm

A bulky warm fleece in 92% polyester and 8% spandex, 256 GSM on a 185 cm width — the widest cloth in the range. The mill markets this under a “De-rong” warm-fleece name for its soft, lofty hand, but the cloth itself is polyester and spandex; there is no acrylic or wool in it. Think of “De-rong” as a warmth descriptor, not a fibre claim. It is a loungewear cloth, a blanket cloth, a cosy lining.

CustomizationAvailable — shade, weight and width confirmed at quotation. The pile is piece-dyed, so a made-to-match is a standard poly dye.
Knitting technicsA bulky brushed fleece. The cloth is a weft knit; after knitting the face is raised and brushed into a lofty, voluminous pile that traps more air than a flat fleece. The 8% spandex is laid in at the needle and gives this cloth a genuine recovery — more than the 3% spandex fleece — so fitted edges hold their shape well.
Composition92% polyester, 8% spandex. The mill tags it “De-rong” for its soft warm hand, but the fibre is polyester and spandex — there is no acrylic and no wool. We name it by what it is, and by the warmth it delivers, not by the marketing word.
YarnPolyester with a bare spandex laid in; counts are set at order.
Yarn countOther
Weight256 GSM / 7.5 oz/yd². A chunky warm weight — heavier than a single-sided fleece, light enough to layer.
Width185 cm / 73 inch. The widest cloth in the range, so the marker lays very efficiently for blankets and wide loungewear.
ColourStock shades quoted by number (No.001–No.096), or dyed to match a swatch you supply. The quality is shown in a pink; send the shade and we match it, not the chip.
HandLofty and soft from the brushed pile; the 8% spandex gives it a definite spring-back. A voluminous, warm hand rather than a flat one.
Stretch & recoveryOpens roughly 40–50% across the width from the knit and the 8% spandex; recovery is moderate-to-strong — the best of the fleece range for fitted edges.
ShrinkageUnder 3% — both fibres are heat-set synthetics.
PillingGrade 3–4. A lofty pile will surface-fuzz under hard abrasion; overlock the edges.
FastnessExcellent wash and light fastness.
Making upA ball-point or jersey needle, a slightly longer stitch so the pile does not trap; overlock the edges — a cut fleece edge will shed pills if left raw.
CuttingLays and cuts like any fleece; a sharp blade, mark the grain off the wales. The pile has a direction, so lay one-way for an even sheen.
PressingDo not press the pile — steam it from the back or hang it. A hot shoe on the face flattens the loft and kills the hand.
AbrasionModerate; the lofty pile is the wear surface and it surface-fuzzes before it holes. Fine for loungewear and blankets.

On the name: “De-rong” is a warmth descriptor

A note we make openly: the mill markets this as a “De-rong” warm fleece, and our poster prints that name. But the cloth is 92% polyester and 8% spandex — there is no acrylic and no wool in it. “De-rong” in the market is a warmth descriptor for a soft, lofty hand, not a fibre specification, so we name the cloth by what it is and by the warmth it delivers, and we will never tell a buyer it contains a fibre it does not.

The practical read for a buyer is simple: you get the soft, lofty, warm hand the name promises, at a polyester price and with polyester easy-care. If you specifically need an acrylic or a wool warm fibre, tell us and we will point you to the right cloth — this one is poly and spandex.

256 GSM with 8% spandex

Two hundred and fifty-six GSM with an 8% spandex content makes this the recovery leader of the fleece range. The extra spandex over a standard 3% fleece means a cuff, a waistband or a neckline opens and then snaps back instead of permanently stretching — the difference between a cosy cloth that holds its shape and one that bags after a season.

It is also a chunky weight: heavier than a single-sided fleece, so it reads as a substantial warm cloth. Spec it for loungewear, blankets and cosy linings where you want both the loft and the recovery.

The cloth draped — the loft gives it volume and a warm, springy fall.

185 cm is the widest in the range

One hundred and eighty-five cm is the widest cloth we list — wider than the 175 cm fleece and well beyond the 160–165 cm shirtings. On a blanket or a wide loungewear panel that barely uses the width, it is a non-event; on a full garment that wants the width, it is a real few percent saved on the marker, so cost it before you commit a programme.

The planning note is the same as for any wide cloth: spec this for the wide, warm pieces it is built for, and let a narrower cloth do the precise tailoring. We will flag the marker impact at the enquiry rather than let it surprise you.

Three things that go wrong on a bulky warm fleece. Name: it is polyester and spandex, not acrylic or wool — “De-rong” is the mill’s warmth descriptor, we name it by composition. Pile: lay one-way and overlock the edges. Pressing: steam from the back, never a hot shoe on the face.

Send a swatch or pick a shade

Tell us the garment, the shade and the quantity — or take a stock shade and we will send the shade card and a hanger swatch. For a made-to-match pink or colour, post or courier a swatch and we come back with a lab dip and a price at your volume.
