Australia Wool-Touch Plush Fleece 220 GSM, 158 cm
A dense plush fleece in 100% polyester, 220 GSM on a 158 cm width. The mill markets this under an “Australia wool” (“澳羊绳”) name for its soft, wool-like hand, but the cloth itself is polyester — there is no wool or animal fibre in it. Think of “Australia wool” as a hand descriptor, not a fibre claim. It is a loungewear cloth, a blanket cloth, a soft lining, anything that wants a plush, wool-touch warm hand without the wool price or the wool care.

| Customization | Available — shade, weight and width confirmed at quotation. The plush is piece-dyed, so a made-to-match is a standard poly dye. |
|---|---|
| Knitting technics | A single-sided brushed fleece. The cloth is a weft knit; after knitting the face is raised and brushed into a dense, soft pile while the back stays the smooth knit ground. The “宫宫绳” (dense plush) name is the mill’s way of saying the pile is packed tight, so the hand reads fuller than a standard single-sided fleece. |
| Composition | 100% polyester. The mill tags it “澳羊绳” (Australia wool) for its wool-like soft hand, but the fibre is polyester — there is no wool and no animal fibre. We name it by what it is and by the hand it delivers, not by the marketing word. |
| Yarn | Polyester; counts are set at order. |

| Weight | 220 GSM / 6.5 oz/yd². A light-to-mid warm weight — lighter than the 300 GSM plush, so it layers more easily while still reading as a cosy cloth. |
| Width | 158 cm / 62 inch. A slightly narrow fleece width; the marker lays like a shirting-width knit, so cost it as you would a narrower cloth. |
| Colour | Stock shades quoted by number (No.001–No.096), or dyed to match a swatch you supply. The quality is shown in assorted solid shades; send the shade and we match it, not the chip. |
| Hand | Soft and warm from the dense brushed pile; a plush, full hand that reads like a light wool, but it is synthetic through and through. |
| Stretch & recovery | Opens roughly 30–40% across the width from the knit; recovery is light-to-moderate. Fine for easy fits, not a compressive hold. |
| Shrinkage | Under 3% — heat-set polyester. |
| Pilling | Grade 3–4. A brushed pile will surface-fuzz under hard abrasion; overlock the edges. |
| Fastness | Excellent wash and light fastness — the standard argument for a polyester fleece programme. |
| Making up | A ball-point or jersey needle, a slightly longer stitch so the pile does not trap; overlock the edges — a cut fleece edge will shed pills if left raw. |
| Cutting | Lays and cuts like any fleece; a sharp blade, mark the grain off the wales. The pile has a direction, so lay one-way for an even sheen. |
| Pressing | Do not press the pile — steam it from the back or hang it. A hot shoe on the face flattens the plush and kills the hand. |
| Abrasion | Moderate; the pile is the wear surface and it surface-fuzzes before it holes. Fine for loungewear and blankets. |

| Price | US$ 15.15 / kg (300–999 kg) · US$ 13.77 / kg (1,000 kg+) |
| Yield | ≈ 2.9 running metres per kg at 220 GSM × 158 cm (≈ US$ 5.27 per running metre, ≈ US$ 3.33 per m²). At the 1,000 kg+ price that is ≈ US$ 4.79 per running metre, ≈ US$ 3.03 per m². |
| Lead time | Stock shades ship from the lot on hand; dyeing to match adds 7–10 days for the lab dip and your approval, plus bulk. |
| Packing | Roll-packed, about 20 kg per roll, poly bag inside a woven sack. |
| Sample | Hanger swatch and shade card free; a lab dip against your own cloth charged at cost and credited against the bulk order. |
| Documents | Invoice, packing list, B/L, certificate of origin; test reports on request. |
| Care | Machine wash cool to warm, mild detergent, tumble dry low or line dry; do not press the pile. Easy care — that is the polyester point. |
On the name: “Australia wool” is a hand descriptor
A note we make openly: the mill markets this as an “Australia wool” (澳羊绳) plush fleece, and our poster prints that name. But the cloth is 100% polyester — there is no wool and no animal fibre in it. “Australia wool” in the market is a hand descriptor for a soft, wool-like plush, not a fibre specification, so we name the cloth by what it is and by the hand it delivers, and we will never tell a buyer it contains a fibre it does not.
The practical read for a buyer is simple: you get the soft, plush, wool-touch hand the name promises, at a polyester price and with polyester easy-care. If you specifically need a wool or a wool-blend warm cloth, tell us and we will point you to the right one — this one is poly.

220 GSM is a light-to-mid warm weight
Two hundred and twenty GSM is lighter than the 300 GSM plush in the range — a light-to-mid band where the fleece reads as a cosy cloth that still layers easily. With the dense brushed face it traps air and feels warmer than the number suggests, so it covers loungewear, soft tops and light blankets without the bulk of a heavy fleece.
Spec it where you want the plush warm hand but a lighter finished weight — a loungewear top, a soft lining, a light throw. For a heavier, no-lining garment, the double-sided fleece is the next step up.

100% polyester means easy care
One hundred percent polyester means the care story is the opposite of a wool: wash it, tumble it, it keeps its colour and its shape, and it costs less than a natural-fibre plush. There is no wool to shrink or felt, so the recovery you get is the knit’s, and it lasts.
The honest limit is the fleece one: a brushed pile surface-fuzzes under hard abrasion and it does not love a hot iron on the face. Both are manageable — overlock the edges, steam from the back — and for the warmth-per-dollar it is the right cloth.
Three things that go wrong on a dense plush fleece. Name: it is 100% polyester, not wool — “澳羊绳” is the mill’s wool-touch descriptor, we name it by composition. Pile: lay one-way and overlock the edges. Pressing: steam from the back, never a hot shoe on the face.
Send a swatch or pick a shade
Tell us the garment, the shade and the quantity — or take a stock shade and we will send the shade card and a hanger swatch. For a made-to-match shade, post or courier a swatch and we come back with a lab dip and a price at your volume.
The warm knits sit next to the Single-Sided Plush Fleece 300 GSM for a heavier option, and the Double-Sided Fleece 280 GSM for a no-lining cloth. The rest of the range is on the fabrics page.
